Nausea Due To Radiation Therapy
Dark yellowish and concentrated type of urine, feeling of lightheaded, dizzy, faint, vomiting like coffee grounds or blood are the symptoms of nausea due to radiation therapy. Nausea is one of the side effects of the radiation therapy. A patient gets a feeling of sick to his stomach because of the affect of nausea due to radiation therapy. Also that cause large amount of omitting. This type of side effect occurs highly when a patient receives radioactive rays on his body organs like stomach, abdomen, chest and spines. This side effect nausea and vomiting becomes less when the radiation therapy is given to other parts of body organs.
This nausea does not start immediately after the radiation therapy treatment, but it starts to occur after a few hours and continue to cause problems for last several hours. Nausea due to radiation therapy and vomiting are very infuriating and annoying. Also because of these side effects, some patients of cancer cannot complete their treatments. They have to face health problems like continuous vomiting which makes their body dehydrated and cause loosing of body salts.
The side effect like nausea due to radiation therapy can be prevented in the form of medicines and as a preventive measure, doctors guide patients to take these medicines before starting the radiation therapy. If patient does not get any progress in decreasing the nausea, he must call the doctor and should change his drugs.
While taking the radiation treatment, if nausea due to radiation therapy persists for more than 2 days even after consuming preventive drugs, then the physician takes blood tests of patient to analyze if there is any loss of body salts affecting nausea. That time a nausea patient is advised medicines via vein or IV fluids. There are some guidelines and precautionary measures given by doctors for patient who is affected from nausea due to radiation therapy.
You should avoid fatty, fried and spicy foods and should eat bland foods, sour candy, pickles, dry crackers, ginger ale, and flat soda to prevent nausea due to radiation therapy. The patient should eat cold and room temperature foods because if you eat hot foods, then it affects your nausea to become worse. You should consult your doctor or nurse for using the acupressure bands on your wrists, which assists you to decrease nausea causes due to radiation therapy.
